The mission of UC Berkeley’s Destination College Advising Corps (DCAC) is making college a viable option for all students by providing comprehensive college awareness, preparation, advising services and much more at James Lick.
In 2007 DCAC became an one of many established chapters throughout the United States part of the National College Advising Corps. James Lick High School among other three high schools in the East Side Union High School District are new to the receive this program this year. Other high schools with San Jose Unified High School District have had DCAC for over two years or more now.
DCAC provides resources for all students to have viable options after completing high school. Whether it is pursuing a four year degree or going to a career technical school. We offer those resources to help all students to have a plan that will make them successful among graduating high school and pursuing their career.
- Individual Student Services: Creating smooth transitions from grade to grade, transcript evaluation and Individual Academic Planning (IAP), SAT & ACT registration assistance, college admissions and application assistance, financial aid awareness, scholarships application assistance, college and career awareness, exploration, and planning.
Whole-School Services: Drop-in advising, workshops on post-secondary and financial aid information focusing on grade-specific college knowledge initiate and support college campus tours and school-wide workshops, host guest speakers and/or college student panels, and provide other college-related activities.
Community/Parent Services: provide parents workshops and information on preparation required for college, college admissions, post-secondary options, and financial aid/scholarships.
